Answers to Your GEO Questions
Direct, practical answers to frequently asked questions about GEO foundations, dashboard features, and SEO improvements.
GEO Basics
What is GEO (Generative Engine Optimization)?
GEO is a strategic approach to optimizing your website's content, technical structure, and structured data so that generative AI search engines like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, and Gemini recognize and recommend your brand. While traditional SEO aims to rank higher on Google search results pages, GEO focuses on maximizing the probability that AI models will cite and recommend your brand when answering user queries.
How is GEO different from SEO?
SEO focuses on ranking high on keyword-based search engines like Google and Naver. In contrast, GEO aims to get generative AI engines to cite your brand as an authoritative source or recommend it in their answers. Since AI models select information based on credibility and citeability rather than clicks, GEO places much greater emphasis on E-E-A-T content quality, structured data, and brand authority signals than traditional SEO.
What are the reasons why our brand is not recommended by ChatGPT or Perplexity?
There are three primary reasons: 1) Technical blocks preventing AI crawlers (like GPTBot or ClaudeBot) from reading your site content (e.g., heavy JavaScript rendering dependencies or misconfigured robots.txt files); 2) Lack of structured, citeable content such as FAQs, definitions, and data-backed statements; 3) Insufficient brand authority signals like Wikipedia entries, high-quality external mentions, or Schema.org structured data. The GEO Optimizing AI report diagnoses these areas and provides a prioritized roadmap for improvement.
Which companies should prioritize GEO optimization first?
It is most urgent for brands in categories where users frequently ask AI for recommendations, comparisons, or local advice. This includes information-heavy and research-driven industries like Travel, Finance, Healthcare, Law, Education, B2B SaaS, E-commerce, and Professional Services. Conversely, generic commodity products with no specific differentiator have a lower priority.
How long does it take to see results from GEO optimization?
Quick fixes like deploying an llms.txt file, adding JSON-LD structured data, or updating robots.txt can show results in as little as 2 to 4 weeks, matching the re-crawling cycles of major AI bots. Deeper improvements like E-E-A-T content optimization or building brand authority signals typically take 3 to 6 months of consistent effort. GEO Optimizing AI tracks your score trends quarterly, allowing you to measure the quantitative impact of your optimizations.
Our Analytics Engine
How does the GEO Optimizing AI analysis work?
Once you register a URL, our 6 specialized multi-agents (AI Citeability, Brand Authority, Content E-E-A-T, Technical, Schema, Platform Optimization) analyze your website. We score core indices—such as AI crawler accessibility, llms.txt standard, E-E-A-T content quality, JSON-LD structured data, and optimization status across 6 major AI engines—to deliver an immediately actionable technical roadmap.
Which AI platforms do you support?
We cover 6 major generative AI platforms: Google AI Overviews (AIO), ChatGPT (OpenAI), Perplexity AI, Claude (Anthropic), Gemini (Google AI), and Bing Copilot (Microsoft). We provide tailored optimization strategies suited to each platform's distinct recommendation filters.
How is the GEO Score (AI Visibility Score) calculated?
It is calculated as a weighted sum of 6 core categories: AI Citeability (25%), Brand Authority (20%), Content E-E-A-T (20%), Technical Foundation (15%), Structured Data (10%), and Platform Optimization (10%). Each category is assessed by our own analysis engine through live crawling, structural audit, and brand footprint checks, converted to a scale of 0 to 100: Excellent (80+), Good (70–79), Fair (40–69), and Needs Improvement (<40).
How do the 6 GEO evaluation areas relate to each other?
These 6 indicators are organically linked to create synergy for maximizing AI search visibility. Technical Foundation and Metadata help bots crawl your site smoothly, Content Expertise and Platform Optimization prove the substance of your information, and Brand Authority adds credibility. Finally, when this high-quality information is packaged in a strong AI Citeability structure, it produces the synergy needed to surface as a direct AI citation.
How is the audit conducted and how long does it take?
After submitting your website URL and brand name, your request is placed in our analysis queue. The engine audits robots.txt, llms.txt, sitemaps, schema data, and content structures to compile a comprehensive report using our own analysis engine. The analysis usually takes 2 to 5 minutes, and the finished report is instantly accessible in your dashboard.
What is included in the final report?
The report includes: 1) Overall AI Visibility Score (0–100); 2) Segmented scores and criteria breakdown for the 6 core categories; 3) Instantly actionable improvements categorized by priority (Critical, High, Medium, Low); 4) A 30-day implementation roadmap; and 5) Competitor comparison analysis (Premium). You can view the report directly in your browser or download it as a PDF.
Are Korean and Global sites analyzed differently?
Yes, they are analyzed through different frameworks. Korean sites are evaluated against domestic platform signals (Naver Blog, Kakao Channel, etc.), HyperCLOVA X/Kakao i optimizations, and Korean E-E-A-T indicators, delivering a fully localized Korean report. Global sites focus on international brand footprints (Reddit, Bing, Wikipedia), English content optimization, and specific ChatGPT/Perplexity/Claude recommendations, generating a native English report. You can easily toggle 'Korean Site' during registration to set the default.
Can we verify if AI actually cites our brand?
Yes, you can verify this using the 'Gemini Citation Check' feature in your dashboard. By simulating queries that real consumers would search for regarding your site's topic, we retrieve real-time search-grounded answers from Gemini to see if your brand is mentioned and your official URL is cited. Real-time AI citation analysis is available on our Premium plans, giving you a live snapshot of your brand's visibility separate from your main GEO Score.
Improving Scores
How should I start improving my score?
We recommend addressing the Critical issues highlighted in your report first for maximum efficiency. Usually, starting with: 1) Deploying llms.txt (30 mins, immediate impact); 2) Adding JSON-LD Organization schema (2–4 hours); 3) Verifying robots.txt permissions for AI crawlers; 4) Writing FAQ or definition-based static HTML content; and 5) Generating an optimized sitemap.xml will yield a rapid initial score boost. The report provides exact code templates for each step.
How often should we run an analysis?
We suggest re-analyzing your site 4 to 8 weeks after implementing your technical updates, aligning with typical AI crawler refresh cycles. For highly competitive niches, quarterly (every 3 months) audits are ideal. You can easily monitor your optimization progress visually through the score trends chart in your dashboard.
Billing & Accounts
How do credits work?
GEO Optimizing AI uses a credit (analysis pass) model—1 credit is deducted each time you generate a report, with no recurring monthly subscription. Plans come in two tiers, Basic and Premium, each available as a 10-credit or 20-credit pack. Premium includes everything in Basic plus a GEO consulting chatbot, competitor comparison analysis, and real-time AI citation analysis. We're currently integrating a trusted payment module to prepare our official checkout, so paid credit packs aren't on sale just yet. In the meantime, free analysis credits granted at sign-up let you generate a report right away. Paid plans are launching soon.
What happens when I run out of credits?
When your available credit balance reaches zero, the analysis features are temporarily locked. Once official payments launch, you'll be able to top up your preferred credit pack directly from the dashboard; until then, a payment-coming-soon notice is shown.
Do the credits have an expiration date?
Our full credit validity policy—including any expiration terms—will be announced together with the launch of official payments. Billing details will be shared when paid plans go live.
